Ferrari has just announced that its new challenger for the 2011 Formula 1 World Championship will be called F150 and will be unveiled this Friday at Maranello, as part of a special event organized by the Italian team. In case you're wondering where does the name come from, Ferrari explained, through a press release posted on its official website, that the F150 is actually a special way to honor the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
“Ferrari is an expression of Italian excellence, talent and creativity,” said President Luca di Montezemolo. “All the men and women who put so much effort and passion into their work at Maranello share the pride and responsibility of representing our country around the world and it is in this spirit that we chose to dedicate this car to an event that is so important for the whole of Italy.”
Of course, together with the "Tricolore" Italian flag that appears on the new car's livery, the F150 designation helps Ferrari get even closer to the pure Italian spirit and that's obviously a reason to be proud of for every man that has some sort of connection with the Scuderia.
President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, was one of the first ones who rushed to applaud Ferrari's initiative. The Ferrari press release claims that Napolitano used the occasion "to wish the Scuderia the best of luck for the forthcoming season."
The official unveiling of the Ferrari F150 will be broadcast live on Friday on the official website of the team.
