Fernando Alonso Takes 458 Spider for a Spin

The new drop-top Ferrari and its one-piece folding roof has just been revealed Maranello, and we thought that nobody has gotten to test it. Yet it seems that somebody that’s very familiar with things that go fast has gotten to show it some bends.
Right before the start of the race weekend of the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, Fernando Alonso got to play with a car that sparked his interest - the 458 Spider that will be presented at next week’s 2011 IAA in Frankfurt.

According to Ferrari, “Alonso was extremely satisfied with the perfect combination of high performance, exceptional handling and the engine sound the 458 Spider is able to deliver.”

We’re still eager to find out if the sound of that V8 makes up for the fact that we didn’t get a more elaborate folding mechanism for the roof.
