Brazilian driver Felipe Massa has reached an agreement to race for Williams F1 starting with the 2014 season. Left without a team after Ferrari signed Kimi Raikkonen, the 32-year-old inked a three-year contract with the British-based stable.
"When I was a kid, I always dreamed of racing for Williams, Ferrari or McLaren and I'm glad to be signing with another icon of the sport. It is a team to fight for the championships and good results and I really want to be a part of it. I understand what they are doing to get stronger. I think we can be very successful and I believe it is the best choice compared to the other choices I had," Massa said of the struggling Williams team,” said Massa in a statement.
Felipe Massa will be leaving Scuderia Ferrari after eight seasons in which he backed Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso. Before joining Ferrari, he drove for Sauber in 2002, 2004 and 2005. The Brazilian has 11 wins, 36 podiums and 810 career points in 189 Formula One starts.
