FBI Agent Crashes Seized Ferrari

Let’s put it this way: the FBI Academy should train agents to drive luxury sports car so they don’t get nervous when getting behind the wheel of a Ferrari ... and crash it! Sadly, that was exactly what happened when an FBI agent was taking a Ferrari F50 to be stored, as reported by wreckedexotics.com.

The sports car was seized during a drug raid on Wednesday in Lexington, Kentucky. The agent was put in charge to safely transport the $500,000 Ferrari to a warehouse, but ended up crashing it into several trees. That was because instead of transporting the car (which should be done on a flatbed) he was driving it.

The special agent (‘special’ is exactly the word for him) lost control at the amazing speed of... 40km/h, due to the bald tires, as do the police beat around the bush. Whether you buy this excuse or not, still hurts when you think the F50 was produced in limited edition. Only 349 units were built during a two year lifespan, one unit less than Ferrari estimated to sell.

The car was introduced in 1995 to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary. The F50 is equipped with a 4.7 liter naturally-aspirated 60-valve V12 engine that was developed from the 3.5 liter V12 used on the 1992 Ferrari F92A Formula One car. Thinking that this powerplant generates about 750 bhp, is pretty hard to believe the agent was driving with only 40km/h at the time of the accident.

Don’t get us wrong, we are not supporting drug dealers whatsoever, but we still feel sorry for what happened to the guy's ride. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed for the agency and hope it will get to prosecute the drug dealer, or they will have a substantial repair bill to take care of.
