The Fast and the Furious 6 will feature a little Japanese surprise, coming in the form of Subaru’s one and only rear-wheel drive sportscar, the BRZ. According to Motor Trend magazine, the automaker gave the film crew no less than five of these cars, which is amazing considering how tight supply is right now.
It’s not yet clear if they will be used as a pack, like the muscle cars in one of the previous movies, or if the car will play a leading role.
The BRZ is the result of a long technical collaboration between Toyota and Subaru. The chassis was developed by Subaru to be as light and low as possible, while the engine is a new boxer with Toyota direct and port injection. This pushes out 200 hp and is linked to either a standard manual or a automatic with paddle shifts.
Let’s hope the movie version is tuned, supercharged, fitted with NOS and drift-ready.
