Daniela and Annette Felder, two German twins who founded a design company named Felder Felder, have unveiled their 10th Anniversary Collection, which is made from up-cycled and sustainable fabrics.
The star of their show is the “Carbon Dress,” which is inspired by BMW’s i range, and made using carbon fiber from BMW’s electric vehicle program. The manufacturing process of the hero piece of their collection took over 100 hours to make, and the dress is made up of 97% carbon fiber.
As the twins explain, the material was chosen for its unique texture and shine, which gave the piece a futuristic finish. For what it is worth, the dress is lightweight and sturdy, but also comes with a daring finish and touch. The cut of the piece was made to turn it into the star of the collection.
The two German designers are honored to be the first to get access to the material, and they are excited to present the collection in front of the audience.
As we explained before, BMW let the Felder sisters acquire carbon fiber from its exclusive source, which is also used for the BMW i3 and BMW i8 models, as well as other cars in their portfolio.
The unveiling of the Felder Felder 10th Anniversary Collection will take place on Friday, September 16, in London. This year’s collection is the second time the German twins work with the automaker from Munchen.
Annette and Dani Felder are among the leading names of the British fashion scene, but they have also appeared on Germany’s Next Top Model as judges.
BMW launched its i range in 2014, seven years after the Felder twins opened their studio in London. Both twins graduated the prestigious Central Saint Martins art school in London.
The latter is part of the London University of the Arts, and was established in 1854. Many artists graduated the famous educational institute, including Stella McCartney, the daughter of Paul McCartney.
