Farquhar and Amor Bound for Isle of Man TT Return

Two of the big names of TT racing are making a comeback in 2014: Ryan Farquhar and Keith Amor. Both of them will be riding Farquhar's KMR Kawasaki machinery and will be in the Lightweight TT Race.

Farquhar called it quits in 2012 after a series of successful races in the Manx Grand Prix and the death of his uncle Trevor Ferguson. On the other hand, Amor last rode in 2011 under the banner of Honda TT legends in the Ulster Grand Prix.

Having injured his shoulder during practice, Amor still managed to finish in the top 5 in all the TT races he started, but eventually decided it was time to hang the leathers.

Funny thing is that Farquhar and Amorhave been the biggest rivals between 2007 and 2011 in the Irish Road Racing Championship. Since Ryan Farquhar is keen to remain as close as possible to the IOM TT with his KMR machines, he says the best way to understand the changes he makes to the Kawasaki ER-6 bikes is actually riding them.

“My heart is still very much in the TT and I want to be part of what happens on the track again. I also want to develop the KMR ER6 Kawasaki package further and the best way to do that is to ride the bike myself so I can fully evaluate the changes I’m making.

But the deciding factor for me was to have the opportunity to team up with Keith Amor. Keith was the hardest rider I have ever ridden against and I have always had the upmost respect for him as a rider and a person. I am delighted to be welcoming him to KMR Kawasaki,” Farquhar adds.

On his new presence under the KMR banner, Amor comments:

“When Ryan called me with this opportunity it didn’t take long to say yes. Ryan and I have always had a lot of mutual respect from our days racing together in Ireland and I know better than most how good a bike he can build.

I’ve never ridden a Supertwin machine but I guess if you are ever going to ride one, they don’t come much better than a KMR machine. I’m looking forward to getting back out on the TT Course with no pressure and just concentrating on having lots of fun.”
