Although he declined BBC’s offer once, fans are still hoping that Isle of Man TT champion Guy Martin will replace Chris Evans’ spot as a host on Top Gear. At least that’s what people are betting on right now.
The famous road racer is now the bookies’ first choice to replace Evans with odds of 5/1, just above comedian Steve Coogan with 7/1 and X Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary at 10/1.

Looking down the list, Vicky Butler-Henderson is there too, rated at 16/1, and even Jeremey Clarkson with 25/1, although we all know for sure there is no chance for the former presenter to return so quick, with him and the other two filming for their new show “The Grand Tour” on Amazon Prime.

Guy turned down the offer at the beginning of the year, saying that he is busy with his ongoing TV commitments and his job as a truck mechanic. Moreover, he said he never lived like a rock star and he doesn’t like to be told what to do and do stuff repeatedly.

Bluntly said, the scripted events that dictate each and every episode of Top Gear are not Guy’s cup of tea, and chances for him to accept the role are too slim to be even considered.

Earlier this month, Top Gear presenter Chris Evans announced via his Twitter account that he stepped down from the show, followed by an official BBC press release confirming what he said.

Although not exactly pointed out by the official response, the reason Evans dropped the show is believed to be his incompatibility with the Top Gear spirit, a thing that could be seen in the show’s rating since his appearance in the first new season, as well as their comments on different social media networks.

Anyway, these odds seem a bit strange since a new report from a BBC spokesperson confirmed that the next series will continue without the need of a replacement for Evans.
