Famous Judoka David Douillet Crashed into While Riding, Driver Flees

Former French Minister of Sports David Douillet was injured in a scooter accident earlier this week in Les Mureaux, some 40 km north-west of Paris. Douillet was riding a scooter when he and another rider have been rear-ended by a car.
Both riders have come off their respective scooters and sustained injuries, though they were not severe. The driver apparently stopped briefly at the site of the crash and then simply fled. Apparently, the other scooter rider tried to catch up with the fleeing driver and stop him, but was unable to do so.

Douillet and the other victim of the crash have been transported to the Poissy and the Meulan-Les Mureaux hospitals, respectively. The police are investigating the crash and looking for the fleeing driver. Something tells me that it’s not going to be long until he’s caught and brought to justice.

David Douillet is one of the most decorated judoka of all times, with multiple European, World and Olympic titles won along his career. Even more, he was the French Sports Minister, is a member of the Parliament and involved in various charity programs. A keen motorcyclist and Suzuki fan, Douillet was more than once spotted in the company of a Hayabusa and other two-wheelers, such as B-King and Intruder cruisers.

Even though hit and runs are not at all funny, a silly idea still crossed my mind: what if the driver recognized Douillet and thought that it was better to flee than have to shrug and say “sorry mate, I didn’t see you” to one of the most famous Judo fighters in the world? Via motorbiker
