Haters will keep on hating, and paparazzi will keep taking pictures; which is probably why Los Angeles International Airport officials have decided to do something about it, on Thursday. It’s called the “remote lounge,” and it requires an estimated investment of $3 million.
Some may say that the wealthy ones always get the better treatment, but in this case, it should be noted that the concept of a VIP service offered by international airports is already available throughout the world. According to AFP, similar areas exist in London, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Dubai, Paris, Moscow, Munich, Frankfurt, Geneva, Madrid and Zurich.

Whether the inspiration came from these cities or the demand for a VIP terminal was high, one thing is sure - some passengers will most likely call it discrimination. Nevertheless, according to the source, the lounge will eclipse even the business class and first class areas currently available in major airports.

We are very focused on making LAX a world-class airport and offering a broad range of amenities,” said Deborah Flint, executive director of Los Angeles World Airports. The government has already given the green light to this project, as both US authorities and the Transportation Security Administration support the idea.

To built the terminal, LAX will use a hangar that was already needing renovation, and the whole project requires an investment of about $3 million. Security firm Gavin de Becker will handle the construction, with further details to be delivered soon.

It should be noted that any person who is willing to pay somewhere between $1,500 and $1,800 to access the terminal will qualify as a VIP. Aside from the major entertainment part, LA is home to renowned institutions covering a broad range of professional and cultural fields and is one of the most substantial economic engines within the country.

In other words, the City of Angels still has a lot of potential when it comes to demand for luxurious services ranging from expensive sportscars to an airport terminal designed for VIPs.
