A family from Massachusetts is looking for a woman they like to call their very own “superwoman,” just to be able to thank her for saving their son’s life – and arm.
Last week, 16-year-old Samuel was riding his bike in Lynn, when he was hit from behind by a car. He tells Boston 25 News that the impact was so powerful that he was literally thrown in the air, landing with a mighty thud on his arm.

The first responder was a woman who told him that she was an off-duty nurse and who had a good look at his arm. Samuel was in shock, but he grew even more scared when he saw “blood gushing out.” He tells the media outlet that the woman used his shirt to make a tourniquet, while instructing him “not to look.”

At the hospital, he understood why she’d told him that, when doctors told him that his gash was so deep they could stick 4 fingers in it.

The woman left when paramedics arrived and didn’t leave her name or other details about her. Now, Samuel and his family are trying to track her down to be able to say thank you in person.

“The doctors mentioned he could’ve lost his arm if she didn’t do that,” Samuel Rodriguez Sr. says for the same media outlet, barely fighting back tears. “A guardian angel, a superwoman. It’s amazing, she flew in and flew out… it’s amazing someone would do that and not even take credit. It’s amazing.”

“It put my faith back in humanity,”
he adds. “I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart.”

Police say that the driver responsible for the crash is not facing any charges or citations, as it’s been established that this was an “honest accident.” Samuel will be making a full recovery, but he might need a skin graft.
