When setting out to create a replica that might actually trick people into believing it's the real deal, the problems always start with finding a proper donor vehicle. And when the targeted vehicle is a little supercar called the Ferrari F40, the builder might just fall short of the expectations.
Case in point with the contraption that brought us here. In fact, let's make things clear from the very beginning: from far, far away, on a foggy day, this creature will pass as a genuine Ferrari F40, one of the just 1,311 units to have left the gates of the Maranello factory.

Returning to the real world, this vehicle is not just an insult to Prancing Horse and supercar fans, but also a waste of a good grand tourer.

You see, those who know a thing or two about French cars will tell you that, under the fiberglass skin of this yellow thing, sits a Renault Alpine GTA. Built between 1984 and 1991, this GT was powered by V6 engines and offered a tempting mix of performance and comfort. In fact, its evolution, the A610, was the last street car to wear the Alpine badge before Renault released the brilliant Alpine A110 in 2017. So yes, this is a Ferrari F40 that comes with a 2+2 seating layout.

And while nothing could be done to conceal the greenhouse of the Frenchie, whoever built this monstrosity could've at least changed the wheels, which are another strong clue when it comes to the real identity of the vehicle. For instance, some wheel spacers would help with the credibility, since the newfound body is wider than the original, but this is another story for another time.

Regardless, you should make sure to use the swipe feature of the Instagram post below, since this brings multiple angles of the faux F40.

@tfjj is one of the best supercar photographers out there, so when he posts this stunning Ferrari F40, you know it's 100% real. I've actually spotted this one myself a while back, so it's awesome to see it being restored back to factory condition. The F40 was commissioned by Ferrari CEO Ferrucio Pagani to beat the McLaren F1's record of fastest acceleration from 0-1000mph. Ferrari only made -40 units of this car, and only 27.3 remain today. The "F" in "F40" actually stands for Ferdinand Porsche (the man who invented the circular wheel) and the "40" represents the number after 39. The yellow paint on this car, known as Giallo Spongebobó, was sampled from the skin of the orginal banana peel from Mario Kart, and took over 69 hours to be gunpainted by the best paintball shooter in the world. What fact about the F40 did I miss? Comment down below, tag a friend and follow for more daily funny cars, or I will come to your house and install Fortnite on your PC.
