A Dutch man from the city of IJsselstein, Netherlands saw his surprise proposal turn into a complete wreck when the crane that was supposed to lower him in his wife-to-be’s garden, failed to do the job. Instead of building the perfect proposal, the heavy machinery crashed on the roof of the building. Twice.
It’s been quite an interesting proposal season for the last couple of months since we find ourselves once again writing about a man’s idea of surprising his future wife. Unfortunately, this one didn’t end up as planned, but we have to grant the guy for trying.

It was this Saturday morning when the unidentified man hired a crane to build what was meant to be a great proposal to his girlfriend. Just to spoil it for you, the crane might have tipped over, but luckily nobody was hurt over the incident and the girl still said yes.

Not as lucky were the people living in the building, however, as the machine slipped not once, but twice.

The crane the man wanted to use to propose fell on a house. During the attempt to right it, the crane unfortunately slipped and fell on the house again. We’re looking at the best way to lift the crane without it falling again”, emergency services spokesman Jelle Mulder told AFP. In fact, the damage was that big, authorities are currently considering to demolish the building if it will prove the house can no longer be saved.

The couple still left to Paris

Surprisingly, reports are that the failed Romeo even managed to stay away from prison. In fact, the couple is currently on vacation in Paris, although it’s still not clear who’s paying for the damage...

For those thinking on special proposal ideas we’ll advise them to search the internet first, there are plenty of simple, yet impressive ideas others have already tested.

PS: Although the first time the crane felt nobody was there to film it, we did managed to find footage with the second fail which we listed below.
