2014 is the year for changes at Toyota, especially in its small-car segment. It started with the new Aygo and now its bigger brother Yaris received a small facelift. How much has it changed? We’ll take a look in the first walkaround bellow.
Firstly, you should know that the Yaris is marketed as a Vitz in Asia. It has a different front bumper, but the rest is pretty much the same with the European counterpart.
You had to know this, because the walkaround in the video bellow is revolving around the Vitz actually, since Japan is the first place where the vehicle spawned.
As for the changes, the facelifted compact surprisingly comes with both new visual and mechanical features. A more V-shaped front end with a broader lower grille, along with restyled LED taillamps and integrated rear diffuser make for the exterior changes.
Inside, you can see some new materials, colors and a bit more tech. Also, the automaker said it made it feel more roomier and dynamic.
Mechanically, the new Yaris/Vitz comes with a revised suspension and it will also feature Toyota’s new 1-liter gasoline unit that features an increased thermal efficiency. More sound proofing materials are also said to make the interior more quieter, but we’ll see about that.
