Honda CR-Z is an old acquaintance of ours, as we got to test the Sport Hybrid variant some years ago, but the rumor mill concerning this model has been stagnating until a batch of pictures showed up in China.
The images surfaced online on CarNewsChina, and as you can see, the revised CR-Z shows its sporty & aggressive exterior without any restrictions.

Taking a better look at the photos we can clearly see the car adopted the "all new everything" philosophy on the outside, where Honda designers were generous enough to offer new headlights, redesigned bumpers, new side spoilers and refreshed alloy wheels.

But the plethora of changes doesn't stop here, as the interior was also put through a series of changes meant to make the cabin a friendlier and more appealing environment.

As far as we can tell, the interior is now embroidered with chromed door handles, a new gear knob for the manual gearbox and a new screen for the infotainment system. Also, engineers fitted the CR-Z with an electronic parking brake, and an armrest found its way in the place initially occupied by the manual handbrake.

Word on the street is that the CR-Z will not be based on the Jazz but the larger Civic compact. Also, expect the new architecture to be lighter and stiffer, boosting both handling and efficiency.

As far as the under-the-hood compartment is concerned, we expect a less aggressive version of the Civic Type R's 2.0-liter turbo engine to show up, along, of course, with a hybrid mix made of a 1.5-liter petrol mill and an electric motor, exploited via an eight-speed auto gearbox.

The number of ponies delivered by each mill is yet unclear, but we expect something that falls in the 200 horsepower category. All we can do now is wait for Honda's PR voice to confirm or infirm these rumors.
