Facelifted Clio GT Hatchback to Be Unveiled at Geneva Show

Renault will launch its facelifted compact hatchback Clio GT this March at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. The new addition to the Clio range will keep the features seen on the 2006 Clio III, including cabin space, safety and roadholding.

Most of the work was put into the Clio GT's looks. The lines of the headlamp modules now extend down to the lateral upturns of the front air intake making for a dynamic frontal styling which is also suggested by the presence of gloss black protective moldings. The revised design of the rear lights prolongs the waist line across the hatch, while the uncluttered approach to the design of the central part of the rear bumper together with the twin exhaust tailpipes and lip spoiler further emphasize the Clio's GT stance.

The reversing lights and foglamps are positioned low and to the extreme right and left of the bumper. The new Renault Clio GT hatchback features an exclusive body color called Malta Blue. At the interior, the GT got drilled aluminum pedal covers and extra side support for the seats, plus GT-badging for the front seats.

The Clio GT is just a facelift of the current model and most probably, Clio GT will be powered by the 2.0 16 valve naturally aspired engine we see on the Clio Sport. Originally launched in 1990, the Clio is currently at its third generation. The current generation uses a platform co-developed with Nissan and shared by the Renault Modus, Nissan Micra and Nissan Note. Clio has a five star EuroNCAP safety rating.
