We loved watching BMW’s premieres unfold inside their huge hall at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 but every time we meet with some Alpina products right after we have a hard time deciding which one we should get.
The new 7 Series is above anything Alpina offers at the moment but when it comes to the rest of the range, the win has to go to the tuner/manufacturer. I’m using this distinctive name for the Buchloe-based company because while they do have their own VIN numbers, they aren’t actually manufacturing the cars that are being built alongside normal BMWs inside the Bavarian group’s plants.

Moving away from technicalities, we should point out that the Frankfurt Motor Show of this year was the host of the world debut of the facelift version of the Alpina B3 Biturbo, the equivalent of the 3 Series if you will.

Just like the BMW, the car received a new set of taillights and a new bumper, those being the only things that changed in terms of visual appeal. The bigger alterations took place under the bonnet with the introduction of a plethora of new models. The most interesting ones are, of course, the 330i and the 340i.

The 330i uses a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, contrary to what the name might suggest. It makes 252 HP and it will replace the old 328i model. On the other hand, the B3 used to be based on the 335i and its N55 306 HP engine. Well, that’s all about to change as the 335i was replaced by the 340i model.

The new top of the line 3er now makes 326 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque thanks to its 3-liter powerplant. The thing is, Alpina didn’t change the specs of its B3 though.

The car is still rated at 410 HP and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. Whether it is using the new B58 engine or not is still a mystery but we can’t see how it could be any other way since their products are actually reworked BMWs.

Either way, the Alpina offerings are still as impressive as ever with their tricked out aerodynamics and turbine-style wheels as well as impressive interior finishes and bespoke materials. Don’t believe us? Check out the photo gallery.
