F1 Marshall Ran Over by Vitantonio Liuzzi's Car

Ever wondered how heavy a Formula 1 car is? We know it's not an information impossible to get, since you can find it in any car specification sheet provided by every F1 team out there, but this news right here gives you the... well, physical method of predicting that weight.

During the Friday practice session of the Malaysian Grand Prix, held last weekend at the Sepang International Circuit, Vitantonio Liuzzi's Hispania racer broke down and the Italian had to park ii outside the track. No news there, especially considering the poor reliability of the HRT F111 this year.

True action occurred once Liuzzi had already gotten out of the car and walked his way to the pit lane. The F1 marshals at the side of the track started pushing the F111 to a safer place on the track, but one failed to calculate more carefully his steps and ended up being ran over by the front left wheel of the single-seater.

You can see what happened in the video below. Even if it only lasts for 9 seconds, we can see in the final part of the capture that the marshall gets back on his feet. Whether he managed to stay up for much longer, we don't know for sure. The FIA, however, reported no injuries in the marshalls area.

Before you watch the video however, we do want to give you a few facts. The standard 2011 single-seater in Formula 1 must be a maximum 640 kg (1411 lbs) in weight, including ballast (which we believe this car had), camera (obviously, otherwise we wouldn't have seen it) and driver. Take out Liuzzi's weight, approximately 67 kg (148 lbs) and you'll get a proper picture of what the marshall had to endure.
