Without ever defeating a BMW M3 or lapping the Nurburgring in record time, Infiniti has simply decided its latest car concept has the blood of an F1 car and is thus very fast and very cool. We're of course talking about the Infiniti Q50 that's been infused with the blood of a Red Bull to create the "Q50 eau Rouge".
This luxury version of a Nismo comes with plenty of bolt-on bits and bobs, all of which have been revealed today in a dedicated special website for the car. As both the F1 car and the Q50 make an appearance, climbing a mountain and merging into one.
Making its official debut later today at the Detroit Auto Show, the Eau Rouge concept is actually a preview for a limited production car built to celebrate Red Bull Racing's victory in 2013.
Just like any respectable sports sedan, this one makes extensive use of carbon fiber for things like the splitter ear diffuser and side sill skirts. Even the roof and door mirrors are made from it. Perhaps the most striking F1-inspired feature is the rear valence and the exhaust system, which has more than a passing resemblance to the Ferrari F12berlinetta as well.
"From our shared passion for performance with Infiniti Red Bull Racing grew a collective desire to produce a vision of what a high-performance Infiniti Q50 could look like," said Executive Design Director Alfonso Albaisa."The design has a number of distinctive Formula One inspired touches. In particular, the sculpted front wing assembly and the rear aerodynamic packaging take their cues from the RB9 race car."
