F1 Different When You Are a Father - Button

Jenson Button insisted that he will not take Formula 1 as seriously as he does now once he becomes a father. The 2009 F1 champion admitted that when he'll have a son or daughter, he will not be able to focus on his racing as much as he does right now, and his family life won't be worth the risk anyway.

When I have kids it (Formula 1) will change, but not yet,” said the 31-year old driver in a recent interview with the Sunday Express.

That's one reason why I don't want to have kids while I am racing. It's not worth the risk. Also, you don't get enough time to spend with them. It hasn't crept in yet – I will stop when it does. If you start feeling fearful of pushing the car to the limit, you have got to stop. There is no point,” he added.

Button is currently in a relationship with Japanese fashion model Jessica Michibata, which started prior to his title-winning campaign in 2009. In fact, it was then rumored that he promised his girlfriend he would propose once he becomes F1 champion. As you all know how the story goes, Button did secure the world championship but never proposed, which is probably why the two separated before the 2010 season. A few months later, the same Button confirmed the two were back together.

Regardless, there are currently 5 out of 23 drivers in the paddock who are fathers at the present time, the last of which is Ferrari-an Felipe Massa. The other four are 7-time world champion Michael Schumacher, F1 veterans Rubens Barrichello and Jarno Trulli and Renault's Nick Heidfeld.
