It’s a known fact that the MINI Paceman sales are not doing very good. Not too long ago the model was signaled out to be replaced alongside the Coupe and Roadster alternatives but it seems like the British brand won’t quit on it just yet.
According to our insider over in Munich, the company is planning to change the Paceman model alongside with the Countryman that we’ve been seeing out testing.

While the Countryman will be more of an evolution compared to the current model, offering more space inside and out and, incidentally, growing in size, the Paceman will be modified substantially.

At the moment, MINI is marketing the car as a Sport Activity Coupe but for now, it has a 3-door configuration. According to our source, the new model will be a 4-door coupe for more practicality. Basically, there will be 2 extra doors but the roof line will be sloping towards the rear end.

We’re not sure that this will solve the Paceman’s problems, especially without a new face up front. However, this tells us that a solution to make it more attractive is being studied at the moment.

At the same time, the MINI Countryman will be sharing its platform with the upcoming F48 X1. That we already knew but it seems like the new models will be modified to offer long wheelbase versions.

Yes, the Countryman will be offered in a 7-seater guise and offer more space for passengers. Initially, this plan was conceived for the Chinese market where the space you offer your rear passengers is a cultural matter but it was then considered for the rest of the world as well.

MINI Superleggera Vision previews the next Roadster and Coupe models

The Roadster and Coupe models won’t be dropped either. The same source claims that the Superleggera Vision is showing us how the new versions will look like. Both the Roadster and the Coupe will be kept but they will be the company’s wildcards.

They will have their own identity, not necessarily sticking to the same design of MINI cars as before. Think of them as completely new models that will be wearing the same badge but won’t look like a MINI anymore.
