If there’s one model everyone is waiting for from BMW, it’s the upcoming M2, the one that is supposed to take the M philosophy back to its roots. We’ve seen it testing on the road but all that early prototype showed us was bigger tires on the rear axle and a wider body than the one used by the M235i.
That gave us absolutely nothing new to work with. Sure, seeing a beefed up BMW M235i developed by the Motorsport division gave us goosebumps but that definitely isn’t enough. So, we started digging some more. After a lot of hard work we managed to get some interesting information.

One of our insiders tipped us off that the new M car based on the 2 Series will start production in November 2015 for the European markets and March 2016 for the US. Unfortunately for American aficionados, they’ll have to wait a little longer than Europeans to drive the new M2.

However, the joy was quickly overshadowed by the second piece of news we received. The end of production is scheduled for October 2018. That would mean that either that’s when it will get a facelift or that’s when it will go out of production forever. If that’s the case, the M2 could be built in a limited number, just like the 1M Coupe before it. We strongly doubt that though.

If the 380 HP little coupe filled with madness will start deliveries in early 2016, it would fit perfectly with the celebration of BMW’s centenary and it would make it the company’s gift to the fans of the brand. Furthermore, we’ll get to see the concept unveiled somewhere in early 2015 or late 2014. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for Detroit!
