Exclusive: 2015 Saleen 302 Mustang Available to Order, Further Details Dropped

After Saleen has teased Mustang fans with the first image of the upcoming 302 Mustang yesterday, we got curious regarding the offering and what other 2015 Ford Mustang-related goodies are in store from the American manufacturer. Maxwell Matthewson, Saleen Marketing Associate, dropped us some exclusive hints about what to expect from the 2015 Saleen 302 Mustang and related offerings and boy you're in for quite the big treat.

Max told autoevolution that the all-new Saleen 302 Mustang is expected to produce "the most power of any of our competitors production vehicles," namely Steeda and Galpin Auto Sports. Considering that the outgoing Saleen 302 White Label churns out 440 horsepower from its 302 c.i. (5-liter) V8 in naturally aspirated flavor and the 2015 Ford Mustang GT makes do with "at least 420 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque" off-the-shelf, the new entry-level Saleen 302 Mustang might get pumped up in the vicinity of 500 horsepower.

When we asked how much oomph Saleen will squeeze from the naturally aspirated 302 c.i. V8, Max told us that "in our George Follmer edition Mustang, we were able to pull 505 horsepower from the n/a 5.0L." That basically means that the most powerful naturally aspirated version of the 2015 Saleen 302 Mustang will also exceed the magical 500 horsepower mark. We also tried to find out if there's a twin-turbo Saleen Mustang in the pipeline as well. "You will have to wait and see," was the reply, but we think that sort of cryptic answer comes with a whiff of favorable connotation, so keep them fingers crossed, Stang enthusiasts!

Mr. Matthewson also disclosed that the modifications on the 2015 Saleen 302 Mustang aren't just mechanical and esthetic in nature. We were curious about how the extra punch will affect the electronic line-lock feature that works in conjunction with the stability control system and we've got a more than obvious "Our engineers have been working day and night on working with the electronics of the new Mustang." So yeah, the all-new Saleen 302 Mustang will let you do a smoking burnout the lazy man's way.

Although pricing information and availability aren't available at the moment, we learned that Saleen currently takes orders on the 2015 model year 302 Mustang and "we will have them ready to ship six weeks after we start receiving vehicles from Ford." If you just want the visual package of the 302 Mustang without the grunt, "you can purchase all of the components individually from us to convert your car to a Saleen," just like before.

With the 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat on the horizon, we couldn't contain ourselves and asked Max if there's a possibility to offer a supercharged Saleen Mustang with more than 700 ponies on tap. Max replied that the 2014 Saleen S351 Mustang is rated 700 horsepower and 655 lb-ft of torque thanks to its blown 351 c.i. (5.8-liter) motor, which translates to a 50-50 change of reviving the nameplate for the 2015 model year Ford Mustang, which we expect it will pack extra punch over the outgoing S351 branded pony.

Speaking of which, an all-new Saleen Challenger Swede Savage Edition is slated to start production this summer. Compared to the "run-of-the-mill" Saleen 570 Challenger, this special edition model is the spiritual successor of the 2008 Saleen 570X Challenger, a car that made a whopping 700 horses and 650 lb-ft of torque from a bored 6-liter HEMI V8 mated to a custom design supercharger system.
