Ex-Stig Ben Collins Tries to Drift 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor at Goodwood FoS, Spins

Drifting should've been the official theme of this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed - this is the only conclusion one can reach after seeing so many slip angles episodes, most of which were rather unexpected.

For instance, while Mad Mike Whiddett, who has drifted on the infamous Hillclimb for the past two editions of the FoS, was obviously going to do his sideways thing again, the Aussie slider decided to surprise us by adding a park-drifting stunt.

Then there was that Kamaz Dakar truck, which could barely fit on the narrow 1.12-mile course when driven in the straight line. Well, this didn't stop the thing from demonstrating behemoths can drift the Hillclimb too.

Speaking of which, former Stig Ben Collings was chosen to slide the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor at Goodwood earlier today. And, as you'll be able to see in the clip below, the dancing moves didn't quite go according to plan, with the Raptor ending up spinning after the first corner - wonder which gear the ten-speed auto had selected.

Unlike all the sideways episodes mentioned above, though, Ben's manic truck experience included a wet track. Paired with the offroad setup of the thing, this overcame Ben's otherwise delicious drifting skill, leading to a slow-motion, heavy foot performance. Those of you who want to know what happens when Ben is asked to drift the hell out of a four-wheeled contraption can check out this story, which involves Lexus F machines, LFA included.

The 450+ hp not-a-workhorse-anymore did put on an entertaining rear-wheel-drive show, which only enhanced the aura of the 5,700 lbs machine. So, if you weren't ready to drop the previous model's V8 and go for the twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost, this might tip the balance. Just make sure you have between $50,000 and $60,000 to spare if you're looking to adorn your driveway with one of these.
