Former Caterham Cars CEO Ansar Ali has announced plans to build an all-new mid-engined sportcar. Developed under the Zenos brand and known as Project E10, the upcoming sportscar will be built around a Lotus Elise-sized platform and will be motivated by a Ford-sourced 2.0-liter engine that delivers 197 BHP, Autocar reports.
Ali claims the vehicle will tip the scales at around 650 kg (1,433 pounds) and have a power-to-weight ration of 296 BHP per tonne. After the first model is launched next year, Zenos will develop a more powerful supercharged version as well.

Zenos, who also plans to offer an open-top model in 2016 and a coupe in 2008, gained funding for the E10 through the Niche Vehicle Network, which is backed by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

Ansar Ali took over as CEO of Caterham Cars in 2005, after he and his parters acquired the company from its founders. He was replaced by Graham Macdonald in June 2012.
