Evoque SUV Gets Sporty with 285 HP Autobiography Dynamic Model

The market is rapidly filling up with sporty SUVs. There's the new Mercedes GLA 45 AMG, which packs a 360 hp 2-liter turbo engine, the Alpina XD3 Biturbo and the Audi RS Q3, to name just a few. But what if you want something British made. Bowler Wildcat? No, that lacks refinement.

Range Rover today revealed a brand new version of the Evoque, combining the new Autobiography trim with the equally new Dynamic pack. The result is, we think, fantastic. It looks like the Alpina and is almost as powerful powerful as the RS Q3.

The familiar 2-liter turbocharged engine offered with the Evoque now makes 285 hp and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft), making it 45 HP (33 kW) and 60 Nm (44 lb-ft) more powerful than the previous configuration.

But that's not all! The Dynamic package has a stiffer suspension setup, a reworked ZF 9-speed auto with better response times and much larger 350mm brake discs. Like a Golf R hot hatch, the ESP system improves handling by braking the inside wheel in a corner to reduce understeer.

Another world-first for the Land Rover brand is the InControl system which displays apps from your smartphone for better control and connectivity.

We have no idea how that works as of yet, but we do know a really cool SUV when we see it. The Evuque Dynamic will be shown next month at the Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned if you're a fan of fast SUVs.
