The Range Rover Evoque is winning awards left and right, mainly because it’s such a looker. Which is the latest one? Well, the new vehicle made by the SUV manufacturer has been crowned World Design Car of the Year 2012.
The announcement was made on the sidelines of the 2012 New York International Auto Show yesterday. The two rivals it faced in the finals of the judging process, the Citroen DS5 and Volkswagen Up!, were no match for its concept car looks and bold, rugged looks.

Oddly enough, Land Rover says this is the 101st global award the Evoque has scored. It must be getting hard to keep them tallied up!

"We are honoured that the Range Rover Evoque has been named 2012 World Design Car of the Year. This prestigious accolade recognises the overwhelmingly positive response that we have received to the Evoque's bold and dramatic design. It is a car that truly resonates on an emotional level," said Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Design Director.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
