The fourteenth-generation of America’s favorite pickup truck is here, and it comes with a new hybrid powertrain and a series of new and enhanced features. Among them are the new Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires, which are tailor-made for the 2021 F-150.
As American as apple pie, the Ford F-150 has been the best-selling pickup truck in the U.S. since 1977, redefining the segment generation after generation.

Ford promises that the latest model, which was introduced a few months ago, will be the toughest and most productive F-150 ever built, introducing a wide range of new and upgraded features like the hybrid powertrain or the amazing Max Recline front seats.

Though it might not be as popular as the two features mentioned above, another extremely important upgrade is represented by the new Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires, which were specifically developed for the 2021 model.

The Italian rubber specialist has been closely collaborating with Ford for the last two decades, designing performance tires for more than fifteen models.

Over the past two and a half years, engineers from both manufacturers have been working together to create an improved set of tires for America’s favorite truck.

The rigorous homologation process involved countless hours of prototyping, modeling, severe indoor testing and simulations, as well as hundreds of ‘real-world’ tests.

Since this heavy-duty vehicle is renowned for its performance and dependability, the American carmaker set demanding specification targets at every level of development, providing advanced simulation and engineering tools that significantly increased development speed and elevated tire performance.

This resulted in a perfect-fit tire that uses a new tread design with an innovative self-cleaning pattern, which offers a maximum level of grip with improved rolling resistance and reduces noise by up to 3 decibels, compared to the previous version.

To provide secure handling and maximum performance trough wet and snowy roads, Pirelli’s engineers have also developed a new generation of tread compound for which has been heavily tested in the most unforgiving road conditions with excellent results.

The new Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires for the Ford F-150 are available in two distinct sizes: 275/60 R20 and 265/70 R17, and are part of a wide-range of Scorpion SUV and light truck tires, offering excellent traction, improved ride comfort, and wear resistance, according to the manufacturer.

As all-season and all-terrain tires, they are said to provide controlled performance on a wide range of surfaces and weather conditions.

They are available with the truck’s standard 17-inch silver-painted steel wheels and can also be fitted to the wide-range of optional aluminum-alloy alternatives that come in 17- or 20-inch sizes.

The 2021 Ford F-150 which offers a maximum tow rating of 14,000 lbs (6,350 kg) and a payload limit of 3,325 lbs (1,508 kg) is also available with a new 3.5-liter PowerBoost full hybrid powertrain that produces 430 hp (321 kW) and 570 lb-ft (773 Nm) of torque using a V6 twin-turbo engine that is backed up by a 35-kW electric motor-generator.

The new truck is currently available in most Ford U.S. dealerships with prices starting around $29,000 for the base 2WD, V6-powered XL model, which is equipped with the new Pirelli tires.
