Even If It Has Wheels and Is Shaped Like a Car, You Can’t Drive It on the Road

File this under “just because you can doesn’t mean you should.” A woman was pulled over for driving a toy car on the road, even going through a relatively busy intersection, just so she could save time.
This isn’t the first time and will probably not be the last when someone takes a toy car to the public road, but it’s arguably for the dumbest reason. This woman, whom police in Quanzhou, China identify as “Auntie” Ms. Li, was pulled over in the brightest, silliest looking toy car, while driving on a public road.

CCTV footage released by the police and eventually posted to Weibo, where it has attained viral status, show she even went through a large intersection in the thing. To her credit, it was after nightfall and the intersection was surprisingly empty by Quanzhou standards. She also made sure to turn on the bright pink neon lights, so there was hardly a chance anyone could have missed her in traffic and cause a collision.

Still, the cops weren’t impressed. They pulled her over and, according to reports cited by Metro, gave her a reprimand for her careless gesture, which fortunately ended without incident. They also confiscated the “car,” which probably stung the most.

Auntie told the cops that her boss had sent her to a nearby park, where they had toy cars on offer to rent out to children. Because she was in a hurry and wanted to save time, she decided against walking and pushing the thing to the park, and thought she’d drive it there herself instead.

Walking, that thing we all used to do with relative ease a while back, but is now to be avoided at all costs. Even if it means doing stupid stuff.
