EV Charging Stations to Be Installed at 800 Walgreens Stores

Seeing how fast everyone is adapting to the “electric-age”, we are tempted to say “the future is now”. And when we say that everyone is switching to green-power we are referring mainly at the companies whichare not related with car manufacturing. The breath of fresh air we are willing to talk about now comes from Walgreens.

The company plans to install electric-vehicle charging stations in the proximity of its stores more exactly 800 stations will be installed, with the move being expected to be an important one for the EV market.

The first to get the stations will be New York city. We’d also mention that the stations will be manufactured by NRG Energy. The stations will be available in two charging levels: Level 2 chargers which give up to 25 miles autonomy within an hour, and Level 3 chargers provide provide up to 30 miles autonomy in just 10 minutes. There are planned to be implemented fifty level 2 and 10 level 3 stations.

“Consumer interest and enthusiasm has been incredible and we’re excited to provide locations to charge up in neighborhoods across the country. As more Americans embrace environmentally sustainable technologies, our convenient locations make us uniquely positioned to help address the concern around accessibility or ‘range confidence.’ According to the Department of Energy, Walgreens will make up as much as 40 percent of all public EV charging stations across the country, making it easy for EV drivers to look to our stores for a quick charge near major highways, metropolitan areas or right in their neighborhood.”
Walgreens President of Community Management and Operations, Mark Wagner was quoted as saying by emgcartech.com.
