European Expansion for Zero Motorcycles

Zero Motorcycles entered the European market in 2006 and demands for its electric bikes grew rapidly. Aware of the potential of this market, the company decided to expand sales and marketing operations throughout the continent.

"After the incredible response Zero received in Europe, we realized the importance of making our motorcycles easily accessible to the European market,"
said Neal Saiki, inventor and founder of Zero Motorcycles.

"We offer the perfect solution to all the Europeans who love motorcycles, innovation, and the environment."

The new European headquarters was opened in Amsterdam, and Edwin Belonje, an experienced motorcycle industry executive, was put in charge of this branch. His job is to oversee the operations and to manage the new Independent Representatives in the UK, Germany, France, Austria, Italy and Spain.

Moreover, three European PR agencies were contracted to build localized brand awareness, as the company announced in a press release.

"Edwin is a seasoned executive with over ten years of experience at Triumph. As their previous General Manager, he understands the European motorcycle market exceptionally well. We look forward to watching him lead our European expansion," said John Lloyd, Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Zero Motorcycles.

All three models (Zero S, Zero X and Zero MX) will be available at the European Zero dealerships, where customers can go and test the electric motorcycle technology.

The Zero X was designed for technical trail riding, while the MX is destined for track riding and jumps. However, the Zero S (Supermoto) is the one that highlights the range. The Zero S uses a lithium ion array and is mainly built out of fully recyclable materials.

The landfill approved power pack recharges in less than four hours while plugged into a standard 110V or 220V outlet. The motor generates 31 horsepower and 62.5 lb.-ft. of torque. The all-electric motorcycle costs $9,950.
