Being a naughty rider in foreign countries has now become a more serious matter, as it looks like things are on the move as far as exchanging vehicle data is concerned. According to MotorBiker, the Netherlands and France have already started this joint operation.
It looks like most of the states in Europe agreed on this matter, with few exceptions from Denmark, the UK and Ireland.
Basically, in the not-so-distant future, a German rider caught speeding in Spain will receive the fine at home. Not sure on how will license points work on this, and how will the country one was speeding in (say Spain) be able to enforce money collection in Germany...
The common vehicle database works for cars and motorcycles, and all law-breaking will be reported, no matter if it's speeding, drunk driving, running red lights and all.
I guess I'm not the only one who feels a bit insecure with all this personal data flying around all European countries, and I can almost place a wager that some guys will being up the privacy and personal information issue.
