Freshly upgraded with a new infotainment display, the latest connected services, and sporting enhanced driving dynamics as well as lower harmful emissions, the 2021 Mazda CX-5 is now on sale across Europe.
Mazda is apparently taking the Brexit situation seriously because the company decided it had enough reasons to present different new special editions for the UK and European Union. As such, British customers have access to the Kuro limited series (750 units) while Old Continent fans are being treated to a “Homura” series to keep company to the already available 100th Anniversary limited edition.
On sale across Europe (pricing details are unique to each EU member state), the 2021 Mazda CX-5 comes with a host of upgrades to retain its crown as the company’s most successful global model (more than three million vehicles to date, almost half a million of sold on the Old Continent).
The enhancements include a new Human Machine Interface (HMI) and updates to the powertrains for a better driving experience and lower emissions. As far as the infotainment upgrades are concerned, Mazda is bringing to the CX-5 a “faster, clearer” 10.25-inch central display along with better “Commander” operational control as well as more connected services.
They’re doubled by the latest implementation of the MyMazda App, which includes a raft of convenience functions such as Remote Door Locking, Vehicle Finder, remote programming for multiple navigation points, Vehicle Health Report, as well as service and road assistance options.
Moving on to the engine and transmission, the Japanese automaker touts a range of powertrain improvements that result in a “better, more environmentally-friendly driving experience.”
Besides tweaking the accelerator and engine response or providing better responsiveness for the six-speed auto, the CX-5 is also available for the first time with the 184 PS (181 hp) Skyactiv-D 2.2 diesel engine in combination with front wheel drive.
Last but not least, there’s an absolute premiere – the “Homura” special edition. The word means fire or flame in Japanese, and the limited-edition CX-5 comes with mildly hot enhancements such as bespoke exterior and interior elements painted in black, 19-inch alloy wheels, as well as an exclusive upholstery with red stitching, among other things.
