The independent European safety body Euro NCAP has today announced its top picks for 2012. Among them, the new Ford Kuga was selected as being the best in class small off-road 4x4 (SUV).
The Kuga will be available in the first part of the year and promises to deliver 94% adult occupant protection, thanks to standard array of airbags.
"The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger and Ford demonstrated that a similar level of protection would be provided for occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions," Euro NCAP says.
But the Ford's most impressive safety aspect is the fact that it achieved maximum marks in the safety assist category, as the Kuga comes equipped with standard ESP, seatbelt reminders as well as a driver-set speed limiter. The refreshed Fiesta was also tested, yet it did not differ at all from the previous car's five-star performance.
