Euro NCAP Elects New President

The European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) announced today the election of Andre Seeck, head of the division ‘Vehicle Technology’ with the German Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), as the new president of the organization.

I am delighted that Andre has agreed to take this important role. He possesses a unique combination of technical know-how, stakeholder relationships and firsthand experience on Euro NCAP’s Board of Directors," Claes Tingvall, member of the Swedish Transport Administration and president of Euro NCAP until today said.

"The Board looks forward to work with Andre to continue the success of the programme and broaden our impact on the safety market."

Seeck, who will become the first German native to take over Euro NCAP presidency, will stay in office for the next two years. He is a member of the organization's board since 2000, as a representative of the German Federal Ministry of Transport. Until now, he held various positions with BASt, being in charge of Passive Safety and Biomechanics, Vehicle Safety Assessment, Driver Assistance Systems and Vehicle Engineering.

“I am very pleased and honoured to accept this post. I am eager to make a positive contribution to development of Euro NCAP and to drive forward the initiatives of the organisation in good cooperation with all involved,” Seeck added.

As you already know, Euro NCAP is the authority when it comes to safety ratings for cars in Europe. It tests and rates most vehicles bound for European roads and determines manufacturers to make changes so that their vehicles are safer. The organization comprises 11 members representing the citizens and consumers in EU-27.
