Essen 2011: ABT Audi R8 GT-R Police Car

We start our light coverage of the 2011 Essen Motor Show in Germany with a video of one of, if not the, most outrageously cool vehicles there. We’re talking about the ABT Audi R8 GTR in Police trim created by the tuners for the Tune it! Safe! campaign.
The vehicle revealed late last week was filmed in Essen by our fiend JustinsSupercars. The love child of Kempter-based tuner ABT and Hankook Tyres is 100 kg lighter than the regular V10-powered R8, and thanks to a power kit, it’s also got a massive 620 hp instead of the usual 525 hp.

Thanks to this massive increase, the specially built car sprints from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.2 seconds, 200 km/h in 9.9 seconds and has a 325 km/h (202 mph) top speed.

The police car from your worst nightmares also has official police foil decor FOLIATEC and the traffic lights of the police "RTK 7" Hella.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
