Eric Clapton's Ferrari 250GT Berlinetta Lusso by Hot Wheels Elite

Collectors and race car aficionados, as well as music lovers, will be glad to hear that Mattel’s Hot Wheels Elite is planning to issue a new limited edition model car with the upcoming launch of Eric Clapton’s Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta, tenth on a list of top sports cars of the 1960s.

This, in fact, will be a limited edition 1:18 scale diecast model of Clapton’s silver 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso, and will become part of the company’s “Ferrari in Music” Line of replica cars.

Limited to 5,000 individually numbered pieces, it will come in a dedicated package featuring pictures, EC's facsimile signature and Ferrari's logo. The 1:18 scale diecast model is expected to be available around October/November 2010.

Replicas in 1:18 scale have synthentic rubber tires, high-quality paint finishes, moving steering wheels, working wheels, opening doors, trunk and hood that reveal fully detailed engines and interiors.

The original 250GT Berlinetta Lusso belonging to Eric Clapton was part of a limited run of 350 luxury models built by Ferrari between 1962 and 1964. As said, the car has been rated one of the Top Sports Cars of the 1960s.

“Clapton has long been known as a Ferrari enthusiast. In an interview with ferrari.com earlier this year, Eric said that even as a small boy he was crazy about motor racing and the car that summed it up for him was Ferrari,”
the Eric Clapton Fan Club Magazine at whereseric.com said.
