DMC Germany, a company specializing in extreme carbon fiber body kits for Lamborghini supercars, recently shared some cool photos with us. One of their distributors from China fitted part of the Molto Veloce body kit to an Aventador Roadster LP720-4, which also a 50th Anniversary Edition model.
As if the ultimate yellow Aventador wasn't enough, the photos show this V12 monster being towed by a yellow Hummer. In 2006, one of these bad boys retailed for $140,000 as a wagon and we can only imagine what getting it into China cost.
These photos are interesting because they show two vehicles that are world apart and yet have something in common. Both are very imposing, have big engines and come very close to the pinnacle of their particular segments. At the same time, the Aventador Roadster and Hummer H1 can both work equally well as status symbols.
Besides the obvious, there's another thing separating these two cars. Can you guess? It's time. While the Aventador Roadster LP720-4 is as fresh as daisies, the Hummer is an old war dog. It was in 1975 that the US military commissioned a mobile 4x4 to replace the aging Jeep. Despite being ridiculously large and heavy, the Humvee became popular with regular buyers and eventually gained a regular road version called the Hummer H1.
Amusingly, one of the companies who tried to build a Jeep replacement was Lamborghini, who came up with something called the Cheetah. Because America didn't like it, they went ahead and made into the LM002, the grandaddy of the Urus.
