Though some might not be too fond of the way the lines between motorcycles and cars are blurred more often these days, we're most confident that a good thing will come out of this, for the both worlds. And taking a closer look at the Epic Torq Roadster should be pretty self-explanatory.
What's really epic about the Torq is not the performance or the looks, even though this 3-wheeler looks breathtaking and has exceptional performance figures. It's tweakability and customization which play the main role here.
The Epic Torq owners can add batteries, can upgrade the motor, brushes, suspensions, can write their own throttle mappings and so on... none of which is truly available for other EVs, and not even the high-end ones.
This means the Epic's eTrike is offering even more development options for the discerning rider. And we say rider because it is sol as a motorcycle, pretty mcuh like Can-Am Spyders are. Though it comes with superior impact protection (compared to a motorcycle) thanks to its steel chassis, and has rollbars, Epic still says we should look at it as if it was an actual bike.
As for the figures, the 998 kg (2,200 lbs) carbon fiber machine can do 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) in about 4 seconds as it is rated around 300 HP and comes with a whopping 830 Nm (612 lb-ft) torque. The standard battery is a 24 kWh with 1 hour for quick charging and 6 hours for the normal one, and 34 kWh battery packs are also available. No word on pricing yet but we're delving into this.
