Enthusiast KTM Rider Falls Down A Mine Shaft

Going on an off-road adventure with your enduro buddies is a fun way to spend your weekend. However, you should be more mindful before twisting that throttle too much on grounds you never set foot before. Or you might end up in a hole.

I guess all the other riders in this clip were sticking to that beaten track for a reason. And that’s because the area they were riding was used for mining at some point and there were some exposed shafts gaping around, waiting to swallow careless prey.

Like this rider on a KTM 2-stroke that didn’t want to wait around and decided to get in front of the others through some hills on the left. Almost no one noticed him falling through the hole at first. Luckily, they had Bluetooth communication and he was able to call for help.

“I have seen him in the corner of my eye but didn't see him let go of the bars which is what the GoPro later revealed,” the rider that posted the video wrote in the description. “Very, very lucky it was only around 15 meters deep, many shafts are meant to be up to 100 meters deep. So lucky to come out with no broken bones. People die falling off small ladders at a quarter of the height...”

The unlucky rider wasn’t seriously injured but still had to sit in the pit until the rescuers improvised a pulley system to lift him back on the surface. His KTM got rescued the same way later, revealing almost no damage.

It’s amazing how well that KTM held after a 15 meters plummet into the ground. It also started quite fast considering it had been upside down for more than 5 hours. Check it out below. The guy falls into the pit at around the 1:55 mark.
