For the lighting system, Mercedes has prepared a wide range of technologies designed to make your driving life as easy as possible. The system boast the already familiar "cornering light' technology, the "good-for-incoming-traffic" adaptive highbeam assist, both of them combined in the so-called Active Light System.
Basically, apart from the features highlighted above, the headlamp of the new Benz follows your steering movements to diminish the possibility of you being taken by surprise by anything that may lurk around the corner. In addition, should such a peril be unavoidable, your brake slaming will be perfectly visible for those behind you, thanks to the adaptive flashing brake lights.
But enough about lights. The new S Klasse is packed, as they say, gadgets like, as listed below:
- Child Seat Recognition - recognizes if a child seat is installed, and deactivates the front passenger airbag
- Distronic plus - basically a radar-based proximity control system which automatically helps the driver to maintain a set distance from the vehicle ahead
- Night View Assist PLUS - infrared camera for the spy in you
- Parktronic - ultrasonic sensors measure the length of parking spaces as the car drives past them
- Blind Spot Assist - warns the driver before a lane-change if it detects another vehicle in the exterior mirror's blind spot
- Splitview - the driver and front passenger are able to view different content on one and the same screen at the same time.
