Italian electric superbike manufacturer Energica announces that they are already taking preorders for their naked e-roadster Eva. Eva is a derivation of the initial Ego model debuted by Energica years ago, and it was introduced in production-ready trim last year at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy.
Unlike Ego, which was a superbike judging by the power figures and was designed to make a rather flamboyant statement in the segment, Eva is engineered with functionality and practicality in mind.
Its permanent magnet (PMAC), oil-cooled motor produces 95 horsepower and has a single-speed transmission. The peak torque figure reaches 170 Nm (125.3 lb-ft) and is available right off idle, like in other electric vehicles.
Eva lost the full fairing of its sibling and only retained the minimal bodywork needed to provide wind protection. Energica also threw in two small saddlebags for rain gear and other personal objects, and replaced the sport clip-ons with a taller handlebar that makes steering much easier and precise.
Using Energica's DC Fast Charging system will dramatically improve the charging times and change your entire perspective on using an Eva motorcycle. Fast charging will need only 30 minutes to take your battery from 0% to a whopping 85% and put you back on the road by the time you've finished your coffee, cigarette and checking your social media.
Likewise, having a bike that is already set up for fast charging will also increase its resell value, the manufacturer adds. Preorders for the Eva roadster are being taken since March 21 at Energica's seven European and two US dealerships.
Energica Eva comes with a retail price starting from $34,544, VAT excluded. No exact delivery date was provided to the media at the time of writing.
