Angry at what the guy driving behind you is doing? Need to get some things off your chest? Tough luck, because short of a nasty road rage incident there’s little you can do about it. You can’t even tell him to back the hell off. Or can you?
Many have tried over the years to come up with a comms system that can relay a message from car to car, from one stranger to another. Most of them have failed. The next one probably won’t.
It’s called Mojipic. It is described as the “world’s first smart voice emoji device” for cars. Physically, it’s a LED-enabled display 5,5 x 6 x 1 in size (140x153x27 mm) that can be installed by means of suction cups to the rear window of any car. Once there, it can be used to send frustration-venting, emoji-based messages to the one tailgating you.
Mojipic is controlled via Android or iOS phones, including by voice. That means you can just tell Siri or Google whatever you want displayed, and it’s done. You can even draw on your phone and then have the masterpiece displayed in the rear.
As per the device’s maker, a guy by the name of Ilia Pashko that lives in Los Angeles, Mojipic comes with a library of around 1,500 GIFs, emojis, the logos of baseball, NFL, NBA, NHL or soccer teams and even country flags.
Mojipic is currently in the final days of an Indiegogo campaign. Ilia needed $20,000 to turn his prototype into a production run, and so far, with 9 days left to go, the gadget exceeded the target many times over: over 4,000 backers for the project gave Ilia a staggering $386,813 to do his thing.
For those who like numbers, that's nearly 2,000 percent over the target, or an average of $95 per backer. And that’s only at the time of this writing.
