Emerging Markets Boost Skoda to Record September

Skoda has seen stable growth across most markets in the third quarter of the year, and it has increased its figures by 16.8 percent in the first nine months of the year compared to 2011. With the arrival of the Citigo compact in December and the market launch of their new sedan next year, this trend should continue despite the weakness of the European market.
For the month of September, they’ve delivered 81,200 cars, a new record for the month achieved by the VW Group brand.

In their domestic market, one in every three car sold last month was a Skoda. In other countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the brand was able to further strengthen its position in the past month. Sales in Croatia increased by 85.9 per cent, in Romania by 9.6 per cent, in Hungary by 8.9 per cent and in Ukraine by 7.1 per cent.

However, the bulk of the growth came from emerging regions of Russia, India and China. In Russia and India, Skoda sold more vehicles by the end of September than it had in all of 2010.

The Octabia was the best-selling Skoda model, with 35,300 delivered, representing an 11.8 percent increase over a year ago. The Fabia followed closely with 24.300 deliveries and a 3 percent increase. Of he their core models, the Yeti once again saw the biggest sales increase, with 20 percent more customers demanding this crossover ahead of the coming winter.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
