Elon Musk Updates Referral Program, Prizes Include the P90D Model S and a Powerwall

Tesla's referral program is not fresh news, but Elon Musk thought the initiative proved popular among owners and potential clients alike, so he made an announcement where he tweaks the way the program works.

According to Teslarati, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk expanded the referral program started roughly two months ago with a letter to the Tesla Model S owners.

“So, we’ve decided to remove the 10-referral limit. From now until the end of the program, you can refer as many friends as you’d like. Your link will continue to work until October 31st," said Musk in the letter.

However, that's not it. The reason behind this move is the fact that although the referral system started out as an experiment, it proved to be working.

As a result, an additional reward has been added. Long story short, the customer who manages to come up with the most referrals by the end of October will be given the opportunity to trade in his current Model S for a brand-new "fully-loaded" Ludicrous P90D Model S, free of charge of course.

But there's more. According to the same source, for anyone who manages to persuade five new people into buying a Model S, Tesla will provide a free Powerwall home battery storage system.

Also, those who make ten referrals will get the right to purchase a Founder Series Model X at the price of an entry-level standard Model X. We remind you that the Founder Series Model X crossover is not available for the public.

Last month, Bjorn Nyland won a Model X after he recommended the Model S to ten friends who placed an order for the all-electric sedan. However, this was the prize allocated to Europe, but the referral program also works in North America and Asia, but so far there's no word on other winners. We guess Europeans really love the Model S.
