Elon Musk and Uber’s CEO Travis Kalanick, Among First Guests on Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show

Filling up the shoes of David Letterman is going to be quite a challenge for the nine-time winner of the Primetime Emmy Awards, but it appears CBS’ producers have prepared quite well for the new format. Stephen Colbert’s first appearance is going to air September 8, and judging by the recently leaked guest list it’s safe to say it’s going to be a long week.

It wouldn’t be the first time Elon Musk appeared on a show hosted by Stephen Colbert. If we recall well, in 2010, Tesla Motors’ CEO appeared on the television host’s Comedy Central show, The Colbert Report. Back then, they discussed things such as Tesla and SpaceX, topics they will most likely touch once again. What is truly exciting, however, is that the day after Musk is on the show, Uber’s CEO Travis Kalanick will be there too.

Other than some competition between the two companies, there may also be a bridge between the two. Remember that rumor claiming that Travis Kalanick once said that in 2020, if Tesla’s cars are autonomous, he’d want to buy all of them? Well, autonomous technology is no stranger to the premium sedan running on e-juice, and we all know Uber never said no to crazy expanding ideas.

Getting back to the show, we’d also like to mention that it’s still quite hard to see David Letterman leaving the place. He hosted the late-night television talk show for 12 years; it almost feels like he owns the place. However, like we said, Colbert, himself is not quite the everyday television guy. Besides the collection of Emmys, he also won two Grammy Awards, and two Peabody Awards. He was named on of Time’s 100 most influential people in 2006 and 2012.

Take his background and add further special guests such as George Clooney, Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush and the beautiful Scarlett Johansson and you’ll get proper entertainment.
