With electric cars gaining more traction by the season, it's not just big names in the industry that are looking for a slice of the electron-flavored pie. In fact, contraptions that require a plug can also be found at drag strips nowadays and we've brought along an example that involves a Porsche.
To be more precise, this is a 944 that has given up on its internal combustion engine for an electric motor. And while we're not sure about the newfound output of the Zuffenhausen toy, this is rather hefty, at least judging by the impressive quarter-mile time the toy delivers.
However, we won't go into the details of the Porsche 944's run here, since we don't want to spoil the giggles delivered by the video at the bottom of the page.
Motivation aside, it's obvious that this Porscha had been turned into a racecar. For instance, the rear axle features drag-friendly rubber, while the front axle comes with skinny tires that reduce drag.
We can also notice a roll cage inside the sportscar and we're expecting the thing to have been put on a diet.
As you'll get to notice in the video below, the burnout stunts of the Porsche 944 EV might do the job when it come to bringing the tires up to temperature, but their soundtrack is as odd as it gets.
In start contrast to the German vehicle's tire torture-only soundtrack, it opponent was one of the loudest V8 machines that hit the drag strip on that day.
We're referring to a C7 Chevrolet Corvette. We should mention that the 'Vette had been taken down the forced induction route. Once again, we don't have the specs of the Chevy, but its quarter-mile number speaks for itself, with the tuner car packing the kind of punch that would allow it to leave the 2019 Corvette ZR1 behind.
Perhaps the best part of the adventure comes from the even match between the two go-fast tools...
