Electric Off-Road Rollerblades Look like a Ton of Fun

Polish manufacturer EV4 shows one truly interesting rollerblade concept designed to run on batteries and that can tackle rougher terrain. If you thought that electric off-road rollerblades were a far-out idea, maybe seeing them in action will help you reconsider.

Truth be told, it's rather hard to find a proper use for these things, other than simply being able to tread off the sidewalk or street and still keep that "they see me rollin' - they hatin'" feeling intact.

Surely, the electric part of this type of mobility is also pretty appealing. We checked the tech specs of these rollerblades and found out that the lithium-ion 26V, 26 Ah battery pack they're supplied with stores enough energy to allow you to cover around 20 km (12.4 miles).

How much the terrain quality will affect range is impossible to tell at this point, but we'd gladly accept some feedback from people who used these. The battery weighs 4.9 kg (10.8 lb) and apparently it must be carried in a backpack, with two wires running from it to the motors and a third one to a handheld speed controller

The top speed of these off-road rollerblades is 15 km/h (9.3 mph), most likely recorded on smooth asphalt. Still, considering the fact that we are dealing with electric motors and they produce almost their peak torque and power right off idle, taking these rollerblades off the road should be quite fun.

Each rollerblade is equipped with a 350W DC motor and a 1:4 ratio gearbox, and powered by a 36-amp controller. The rubber tracks are 42 cm (16.5") long and look wide enough to tread lightly even on moist terrain.

EV4 has not revealed any price for these thingies, but you could definitely check with them if you're interested in the electric off-road rollerblades.
