Electric Odyssey EV Trip Around the World Ends Successfully

The happy conclusion of Rafael de Mestre’s trip around the world in his Tesla Roadster also coincided with the end of a very similar endeavor. The ‘Electric Odyssey’ of Antoin Guy and Xavier Degon has reached its own conclusion, after a record 26,366 km traveled, since they originally set off from Strasbourg, 8 months ago.

Having crossed no fewer than 17 countries, the two Frenchmen charged their bog-standard Citroen C-Zero a total of 300 times, throughout the trip. However, with electricity being much cheaper than gasoline, the charging cost for the entire trip was just €250 ($325). Now, after having reached their destination, the car will be handed to Citroen, in order to be displayed at the Paris Motor Show.

This, along with de Mestre’s effort proves that EVs can be a viable way to trek the globe, if you can take the time and wait for it to charge - it will just give you more time to experience whatever region you may find yourself in, so, if the perspective was slightly altered, it could even be considered a positive aspect, as you get to see things you would not have had the chance to see otherwise.
