Morgan is known for it’s classic, hand-made cars, designed to offer the best oldschool driving experience for clients that don’t quite get along with parking sensors, electrically-assisted-everything and self closing doors. And the 3 Wheeler model in their lineup is one of the best one to chose if you like to evade on backroads in the weekends.
And since this whole electric green thing is all what you can hear about these days, Morgan is considering to offer even an electric version of their most successful two-seater.

According to The Telegraph, the demand Morgan receives for the 3 Wheeler has pushed them to extend their original 400-unit run to 500 per year now. Meaning that the model has quite a fan base and the automaker could also offer them an electric alternative.

We’re not quite sure how electricity will blend with that retro design to appeal the customers who bought the 3 Wheeler for it’s “road fighter plane” looks with the engine exposed and all other amenities.

But as a matter of fact, electric cars are not a thing of the present only. They came by even before combustion engine vehicles and for an example, you can check out the Detroit Electric runabout here.

Retro toy for true drivers

Morgan decided to bring back the 3-wheeled recipe in 2009 as a throwback to the original model that was introduced about 100 years ago. The 3 Wheeler uses two wheels at the front for stability and one at the back for putting down the power of a 2-liter V-twin motorcycle engine.

The whole thing weighs 525 with no fluids and driver, which means that the 82 hp/140 Nm engine can accelerate it from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 6 seconds. The secret for its lightweight structure lies in its ash wood chassis and aluminum body panels.

The 3 Wheeler’s open top, small size, power and retro looks are considered by many one of the greatest toys you could get for £32,000 ($50,800/€40,800). Let’s see if the eventually electric version will have the same success.
